The Chester Light Parade on Saturday April 21st 2012 is a new type of GoldWing Event being held in conjunction with Chester Lions.
The Lions will be organising all the Chester side of things and the bucket collection, the Wingers just turn up, park up, enjoy Chester and in the evening get to ride around with their display lighting on, escorted by the Cheshire Police.
The Charity Collection is expected to rise over £10,000.
The GoldWings get to park in the pedestrian areas of the City on a Saturday – so the ladies get to spend the day enjoying Chester, which is a lovely place and provides fine shopping and eating opportunities.
In the evening there will be a Light Parade around the City, escorted by Cheshire Police and again incorporating the pedestrianised areas which are expected to be lined by crowds.
Wingers are expected to contribute by making an Event Registration Donation of £3.50 per bike, all of which will go into the Charity Collection – which is expected to raise over £10,000! (£3.50 by the way is far cheaper than the parking charges for Chester, so you will be well ahead anyway!)
Accommodation has also been arranged at an incredibly cheap rate at the Beaufort Hotel, only 15 minutes from Chester, where GoldWings North Wales meet each month for only £60 per couple per night for bed, breakfast and evening meal – so only £30 each. Singles are only £35 for the same deal. (Hotels in Chester are ridiculously expensive but there is a selection if you want to push the boat out.) Hotel Bookings must be made before the end of February to get these special rates.
Camping facilities are also available at the Chester Southerly Camping Park, which is situated just off the A483 and A55 road junction. Special Rates apply for those who quote ‘Goldwings Event’ are:- Caravans and Motorhomes with electric 2 adults £17.00 Tents with 2 adults £12.75, Tents 1 adult £10.20. This is a 15% discount over normal rates.
There will be a social gatherin at this Hotel on the Saturday – no noisy music, just a chance to meet and enjoy the company of other Wingers in comfortable surroundings while also having an opportunity to view the bikes again at night.
