Trevor's magnificent 1500 trike

Another 87 photos of various aspects of the Chester GoldWing Light Parade 2012 have just been added to the Gallery.

These were taken by Trevor Durber from Wolverhampton, winner of the trophy for Best Classic GoldWing with his blue GL1500 trike pictured here.

These were taken by Nigel’s protegé, Ed Quayle, who I’m sure you’ll agree shows much promise (though there are no signs yet that he has acquired Nigel’s knack of convincing nubile young ladies to willingly pose for him)!

If you, or anybody you know has used Britannia Hotels Central reservation to book their rooms at The Prince of Wales Hotel in Southport it is VERY IMPORTANT that they contact.

As the hotel is expecting all 154 bedrooms to be taken for the two functions they are only accepting reservation from people who are participating or attending the GoldWing Parade or the Dancing competition.

Please don’t leave it to the last minute to book your room, chances are there will be none left.

The Chester Lions GoldWing Light Parade has made the MCN Headlines this week as the Event which ALL bikers must ride to this weekend.

While displaying in the pedestrianised area of the City Centre is restricted to GoldWings only, all bikers are welcome to ride the Chester to spend the day and the evening viewing the spectacle and enjoying biker company.

There will be plenty of parking space available just outside the medieval City centre, for example on the Castle Square Long Stay Car Park, where you can park for a reasonable charge all day – and after 3.30pm it’s free.

There are also four Park and Ride car parks around Chester with buses every ten minutes into the City Centre – and these are accessible to large vehicles like motorhomes.  Whatever you are riding or driving, come to Chester tomorrow for a great day out!

Tomorrow, Saturday 21st April will see the City dominated by GoldWings, which will be parked on display from 10.30am until about 4pm, then assembled on the Castle Square car park for the police-escorted evening Light Parade through the City.

All Wingers are welcome and you can simply turn up, entering Bridge Street from the South end, any time after 10.30am to enjoy a great day.  Local VIPs (including the Lord Mayor) Celebreities, Chester the Cat and the Chester Giants will be on the street too for a really interesting and enjoyable day and evening.

Ian Puleston Davies, better known to Corrie fans as Owen the Builder, spent ages chatting and posing for pictures with Wingers and their bikes at Smiths Honda premises in Chester last Wednesday at the final publicity photoshoot  for the Event and he’s also looking forward to riding in the Parade through Chester on Saturday21st April – and with GoldWings North Wales Member Jim Nightingale as pillion on a solo Goldwing at that, so he really is on board in supporting this Charity Event.  Presumably Ian wasn’t offered a ride on the Gl1800 of Jim’s Partner Chandra (“Powered by Fairy Dust”) or it would have been no contest!

Chester Lions President Derek Dix was present too, as was and Peter Upton, Chairman of their Fund Raising Committee, who has been working with Dave Crowley, the Lead GoldWing Organiser.  Arrangements are in hand for a cracking day in Chester on Saturday 21st and for a successful collection for a worthy charitable cause – “Save the Family”.

Local press turned out to take pictures and as you can see the press coverage was very up beat.
