GoldWing Light Parade Venue has been announced!

Parade Mustering Time - 2009

We are pleased to announce that a new Venue for the GoldWing Light Parade has been identified and agreement has been reached with the proprietors on attractive terms.

The Organisers are very sorry it’s taken a while to get this far but it has not been easy to find a suitable alternative following the sudden closure of Pontin’s last October, where the Event had been based successfully for some years.

However we are confident that this new Venue meets our needs well. A complex Event like the Blackpool Illumination GoldWing Light Parade has elaborate requirements so there are a lot of boxes to tick.

However we are confident that we have found a really attractive alternative which in most respects will be a considerable improvement – including in both quality of accommodation and value for money.  The new Venue is also well located for purposes of the Parade itself.  It ticks almost all the boxes and the compromises we have had to accept are relatively modest and we feel we can overcome them by making adaptations to the way we have done things in the past.

The 2010 BLP will again be a Federation Event but we are look forward to welcoming GWOCGB Members to our Event as friends and fellow Wingers.  Everyone who comes will pay the same, no matter what their Club is – and GoldWing riders don’t need to be members  of any club at all to come and join us .  All Wingers are welcome.

All GoldWing Clubs and GWOCGB Regions are also welcome to display their badges and banners during the Parade and to advertise their own events as they wish – indeed we will help them to do so on request, as we did for the South Wales Wing Ding last year. The BLP is a genuinely friendly,  non-political social and fun Event.  As in previous years, the Organisers are not aiming to make a profit and any surplus which might be made will be used to  make grants to GoldWing clubs or go to charity.

This is really good news, the Organisers have worked hard and come up trumps, well done. Pontin’s served us well over the years but was getting a little tired. Let’s spread the news that THE BLP is ON FOR 2010!

Let’s hope the people who tried to ‘mis-inform’ everyone last year will get the message. Every year it gets better, nowhere else could hold a better light parade than Blackpool. We have the Illuminations and they go hand in hand with well lit GoldWings.

Come on let’s have another good weekend! Can’t wait to see what Papa Joe has up his sleeve.

Yes, it was pretty disgraceful of the GWOCGB Chairman, Chris Hinds, to announc at his Club’s meeting that that our Club’s Light Parade was cancelled. Shame on Chris for bringing shame on his Club by behaving like that.

It was also being put about last year that going to the BLP was an act of disloyalty to GWOCGB. Incredible! There have been other attempts to be negative too. Sad that the GWOCGB Committee can’t concentrate on putting their own house in order to try to improve and increase their own events and regain lost members by getting better, rather than interfering with other GoldWing clubs in this disreputable way.

However, 2010 is a new year and we’re looking forward to starting a new biking season. Let’s hope the deviousness and nastiness of club politics in 2008 and 2009 is all genuinely behind us now and that Wingers can get back to enjoying each other’s company (and each other’s events) without someone deliberately trying to screw things up.

So here’s the best of wishes from the BLP Organisers to Yorkshire Wings’s Scarborough Light Parade, here’s hoping theirs goes well this year too.

Well said Stuart……..Your last comments about the Scarborough Light Parade i am sure will be welcomed by Tony and his team……I was there last year and they put on a very very good display both during the day and at night and I am sure that this year they will do the same ….so all the best to them all..As far as the BLP is concerned I must agree with your comments it is the original Goldwing Light parade and still the best place to show off your lighted Goldwing…..But please don’t rest on your laurels……The SLP in right behind you………..LOL

  5. Papajoe says:

Hi Frank & Judy……….Last year I thought my 12 High Tower was a winner…..But sadly I was showing to many wires for the judges….:-(……….Must try harder to hide them for this year……Don’t think I could take the Rejection 2 years in a row……. ;-)

BTW…………The only thing I will have up my sleeves this year will be my arms…….LOL

  6. Frank and Judy Goodman says:
