Blackpool Council have agreed to a formal Road Closure Order for the new Event Venue on South Shore Promenade.
This will allow the whole Crescent outside the group of hotels and B&Bs where this year’s GoldWing Light Parade is being held to be restricted to Event Traffic only for the whole weekend. The venue will effectively become a GoldWing Village for the duration.
Details of the Route and the arrangements for riding it are still being worked out but this Road Closure will allow the Parade to have an ideal Mustering Area right at the Venue and should also facilitate easy and safe departure onto the Promenade Roadway.
It’s going to be a Great Weekend!
Brilliant news, it’s coming together very well. (as usual) Well done guys. Who said there would be no BLP this year? WRONG.
Great news, it just keeps getting better.
What is happening about the local support from the police and council for 2010?
We are working with the Council and the Police and details of the Parade arrangements will be announced as soon as they are confirmed. There are formal processes to be completed and they cannot be rushed but we are not anticipating any difficulties. The new Venue is well located as a Mustering Area which will provide direct access to the Parade Route and we are anticipating smooth progress along the Promenade in both directions.
Sounds good. Looking forward to it. It’s a pity some of those who spit the dummy out a couple of years ago, won’t give it another try.
I don’t believe there were many who stayed away because they personally spat their dummy out, just few who made an unfriendly fuss and put doubt in other people’s minds. The nice ones will come back in their own time once they realise they were conned and the nasty ones will hopefully stay away indefinitely!
This will be my 3rd BLP and i know its going to be the best yet. May be i can get to know some more Wingers. I tend to stay by myself but not this year. Goldwingers are the best see you all soon bring out the sun.
Looks like you guys have it perfected as you promised, although i will not be able to spend the weekend, i fully intend to make the ride up for the first of my Blackpool parades, so see you all there.
Thanks for the hard work you folks have put in for the event.
