Blackpool Light Parade Route

The 2008 Parade Route is shown on this interactive Google map. Move around the map at will – zoom in to see more detail. Click and hold the mouse button on the large or small map and then drag it around. Choose a satellite (aerial) view if you wish!

Please note that the Parade is for GoldWing riders and their personal guests only — no other bikes will be allowed entry to the Parade Mustering Area.

Event Registration and a Parade Riding Permit Sticker are required before you may enter the Parade Mustering Area or ride in the Parade.  The Parade is subject to an Official Road Closure and it will be illegal to ride anywhere along the Route during the Parade except as part of the Parade. The rider of any bike which attempts to join the Parade without a Permit Sticker may be committing an endorsable road traffic offence.

The Parade will start from the Princess Promenade (“A” on the map, near the cenotaph, same as in 2006) shortly after dark on Saturday 20th September 2008. It will start earlier than in previous years because the Event is being held a few weeks later, so it gets dark earlier, so we can finish earlier and start partying earlier!

We will first head north and to the large roundabout at Gynn Square ("B") where we turn back on ourselves to head south along the full length of the Promenade (including the "Golden Mile") to Pontin's ("C") arriving at about 8:30pm.

Enter your postcode for directions to Pontin's

Traffic control will be improved for 2008 with positive control of all lights and crossings by a combination of more police presence and Council Officers setting the traffic lights for us. We expect to be able to keep the Parade intact and moving steadily at a safe speed of about 10-15 mph all the way from start to finish.

There will be a declared, official road closure for the Event, although to minimise disruption to the public we will actually utilise a rolling road closure. And all the Marshals we need will be provided by a local IAM motorcycle group, so all the Goldwings can be free to enjoy riding in the Parade.
